Popular Door Styles For Your Home

Paneled Door Types - King Locksmith and DoorsPaneled Doors

These are a perfect option if you are looking for a classic style that will go with just about any interior design style. They are built with panels that fit inside grooves in the stiles and rails. They come in a variety of materials such as wood, steel, fiberglass and more, making them great for just about any style preference. They have square patterns that can range in size and they look great both traditional and modern style homes.

Single-Acting Doors

These are the most used door style for home interiors. They have hinges on one side and open in one direction. Basically, you can’t go wrong with single-acting doors but if you want something a bit more unique, keep reading.

Double-Acting Doors

Often used between a kitchen and a dining room, these doors open in both directions. Just be careful not to accidently open the door onto a family member or houseguest.

Pocket Door Types - King Locksmith and DoorsPocket Doors

These doors are making a big comeback after being out of style for a while. And again, if you don’t have a lot of space, these doors are the perfect option. They actually slide into the wall rather than swinging open and are perfect for pantries or small toilet rooms. For a fun twist, consider choosing a bright color for your pocket door to give a small space some flair.

Bifold Doors

This type of door is typically used for closets, laundry rooms or kitchen pantries. They have two panels that fold to one side and you have the option to install one set or two for a larger opening.

Bypass Doors

If closet space is an issue, you should definitely consider a bypass door. There are two panels that slide past one another and you can only open one side at a time.

Exterior Sliding Doors

As the name suggests, these sliding doors are for your exterior entryways. Most of the time they have one fixed panel and the other panel slides to open and close. Although less common, there are also options for interior sliding doors.

Flush Doors

Flush doors can be used for interior or exterior remodels and they have a flat surface on each side. Flush interiors typically have hollow cores and flush exteriors are solid. They are clean and simple so if you are not into flashy designs, these are the doors for you. They also fit in great in any contemporary style home and they come at a great price if you are on a strict budget.

French Door Types - King Locksmith and DoorsFrench Doors

These doors are great for adding value to your home with a dramatic entryway to your deck, patio or garden. Usually, they are hung in pairs, open from the sides and often use glass inserts or different types of decorative panels for additional charm. If that’s not enough, they also create extra wide doorways that are both decorative and practical.
