Terms and Conditions

These terms explain how King Locksmith And Doors Inc. provides residential, commercial, automotive, and emergency locksmith and door services, and what we ask of you in return.

Effective Date: October 15, 2026

1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern all services, products, and work provided by King Locksmith And Doors Inc., doing business as King Locksmith or King Locksmiths (“King Locksmith,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By requesting service, authorizing work, signing a work order or invoice, making a payment, or allowing our technicians onto a property, you (“Customer” or “you”) agree to these Terms.

These Terms apply to residential, commercial, automotive, and emergency services, whether booked by phone, online, in person, or through a third party. If a signed written agreement or commercial service contract conflicts with these Terms, the signed agreement controls for that matter.

Definitions. In these Terms:

  • “Services” means all locksmith, door, hardware, access control, safe, and related labor we perform, including emergency lockouts, rekeying, lock installation and repair, key duplication and cutting, automotive key and transponder work, door installation and repair, frame and hardware work, and security consultations.
  • “Products” means locks, keys, cylinders, doors, frames, closers, exit devices, hinges, safes, electronic access devices, and any other goods we supply.
  • “Work Order” means any written or electronic estimate, quote, invoice, or service ticket describing Services or Products for a specific job.
  • “Property” means the home, building, vehicle, safe, or other item on or at which Services are performed.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect on the date you request Services applies to that job.

2. Services and Scope of Work

We perform only the Services described on the Work Order or verbally agreed with you before work begins. Any additional work you request, or that we find is necessary once work is underway, will be discussed with you and priced before we proceed.

We may decline or stop any job if, in our reasonable judgment, the work is unsafe, unlawful, beyond our licensing or expertise, or cannot be completed because of the condition of the Property. We may subcontract specialized work to qualified, insured providers; we remain responsible to you for that work under these Terms.

Technicians may recommend additional security improvements. Recommendations are advisory only, and you decide whether to accept them.

3. Proof of Ownership and Authorization

Before we open, rekey, or bypass any lock, you must show that you are authorized to access the Property. We will ask for a valid government-issued photo ID plus at least one of the following: a document showing the Property address in your name (such as a lease, deed, utility bill, or bank statement), vehicle registration or title for automotive work, or written authorization from the owner or property manager.

If you cannot provide acceptable proof, we may refuse service and the service call fee still applies. Where proof is only available inside the locked Property, we may open the door and then verify ownership before leaving; if verification fails, we will secure the Property and may notify the owner or local law enforcement.

By requesting Services, you represent and warrant that you are the owner of the Property or are legally authorized by the owner to have the work performed. You agree to indemnify King Locksmith for any claim arising from a false or misleading statement of authority. We record the name, ID details, and address of each customer for entry services and keep these records as required by applicable law.

4. Quotes, Estimates, and Pricing

Phone and online prices are estimates based on the information you give us. Final pricing depends on the lock type, security grade, door condition, and actual time and materials required. Our technician will confirm the total price on site before starting work, and no work begins until you approve it.

Written quotes are valid for 30 days unless the quote states otherwise. Prices for Products may change if a manufacturer or supplier raises its prices before you accept the quote.

The following charges may apply and will be disclosed before work begins:

ChargeWhen it applies
Service call / trip feeEvery on-site visit, including visits where you decline the work or we cannot verify authorization
LaborPer job or per hour, as quoted
After-hours, weekend, and holiday rateCalls outside regular business hours of [insert hours]
Emergency / priority dispatchSame-hour or urgent response requests
Parts and ProductsEach lock, key, cylinder, door, or component supplied
MileageLocations outside our standard service area of [insert area]

Applicable sales tax will be added where required by law.

5. Payment Terms

Payment is due in full when the work is completed, unless you have an approved commercial account or a signed agreement with different terms. We accept cash, major credit and debit cards, and [insert other methods]. Personal checks are accepted at our discretion.

  • Deposits. Special-order Products, door installations, and large projects require a non-refundable deposit of [50]% before we order materials or schedule work.
  • Late payment. Unpaid balances more than 30 days past due accrue interest at [1.5]% per month or the highest rate allowed by law, whichever is lower.
  • Returned payments. A fee of $[35], or the maximum allowed by law, applies to any returned check or reversed card payment.
  • Collection costs. You agree to pay reasonable costs of collecting overdue amounts, including attorney fees and court costs, to the extent permitted by law.
  • Title. Products remain the property of King Locksmith until paid in full. Where permitted by law, we may remove unpaid Products or file a mechanic’s lien against the Property.
  • Chargebacks. If you dispute a charge, please contact us first so we can resolve it. Filing a chargeback for Services that were performed does not cancel the debt.

6. Scheduling, Arrival Times, and Cancellations

Arrival times are estimates. Traffic, weather, and emergency calls can cause delays, and we will try to notify you if we are running late. We are not liable for losses caused by delayed arrival.

  • Cancellation. You may cancel a scheduled appointment without charge by giving at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations with less notice, or after a technician has been dispatched, are charged the service call fee.
  • No access. If the technician arrives and cannot reach you or the Property within 15 minutes, the visit counts as a cancellation and the service call fee applies.
  • Special orders. Orders for custom or special-order Products cannot be cancelled once placed with the supplier, and the deposit is not refundable.
  • Rescheduling by us. We may reschedule if conditions are unsafe or a technician is unavailable. If we reschedule, no fee applies to you.

7. Customer Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Give accurate information about the Property, the lock or door, and the problem.
  • Provide safe, clear access to the work area, and keep children and pets away while we work.
  • Tell us about hidden hazards, alarm systems, electrical lines near the work area, fire-rated doors, and any building, HOA, or landlord rules.
  • Obtain any landlord, HOA, or building management approval required before we change locks or doors.
  • Have an adult (18 or older) with authority to approve work present for the entire job.
  • Inspect the completed work and test all keys and locks before the technician leaves.
  • Keep keys, codes, and credentials secure after we hand them over.

8. Entry Methods and Existing Hardware

We always try non-destructive entry first. Some locks, high-security cylinders, damaged mechanisms, and vehicles cannot be opened without drilling, cutting, or otherwise damaging the lock or surrounding hardware. We will tell you before using a destructive method, and you may decline.

If you authorize destructive entry, you accept that the lock, cylinder, or related hardware may be destroyed and need replacement at your cost. King Locksmith is not responsible for damage that is a reasonable and expected result of an authorized entry method.

We are not responsible for damage caused by pre-existing conditions, including worn, rusted, or faulty locks; rotted, warped, or misaligned doors and frames; previous improper installation; or aftermarket or damaged vehicle components. For automotive work, we are not liable for pre-existing electrical faults, airbag or alarm issues, or damage to weather stripping, paint, or trim reasonably incidental to entry.

9. Products, Parts, and Returns

  • Our Products. We supply new Products from reputable manufacturers unless you agree otherwise in writing.
  • Customer-supplied hardware. We will install locks, doors, or parts you supply, but we do not warranty them. If customer-supplied hardware is defective, incompatible, or missing parts, you will be charged for the time spent plus any return visit.
  • Returns. Unused, standard-stock Products in original, unopened packaging may be returned within 14 days with the receipt, less a [15]% restocking fee. Installed, cut, rekeyed, pinned, programmed, or special-order Products are non-returnable.
  • Keys. Cut keys, programmed transponder keys, and fobs are non-refundable once cut or programmed, except where defective (see Section 10).
  • Discontinued items. If a Product is discontinued or unavailable, we will offer a comparable substitute for your approval or refund the deposit for that item.

10. Warranties and Disclaimers

We warrant our workmanship as follows, starting on the date the work is completed:

ItemWarranty periodRemedy
Labor and workmanship[90 days]Repair or redo the work at no labor charge
Products we supplyManufacturer’s warrantyWe will help you process the manufacturer claim
Duplicate and cut keys[30 days]Recut or replace a key that does not work properly
Door installations[1 year] on installation laborAdjust or correct the installation

To make a warranty claim, contact us within the warranty period with your invoice. We will inspect the issue and, at our option, repair, replace, or refund the affected portion of the work. Warranty labor is performed during regular business hours.

The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, abuse, accidents, forced entry by others, vandalism, weather, normal wear, lack of maintenance, alteration or repair by anyone other than King Locksmith, customer-supplied hardware, or keys copied by third parties.

No lock, door, or security system can prevent all unauthorized entry. Our Services reduce risk but do not guarantee that the Property will be protected against burglary, theft, or forced entry. Except as stated in this section, and to the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all other warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

11. Limitation of Liability and Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, King Locksmith’s total liability for any claim arising from the Services or Products is limited to the amount you paid for the specific job giving rise to the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of property, theft, lost profits, business interruption, or loss of use, even if we were told such damages were possible. We are not liable for losses resulting from a burglary or break-in, or from keys, codes, or credentials lost or shared after we handed them to you.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless King Locksmith, its owners, employees, and subcontractors from claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your misrepresentation of authority, your breach of these Terms, unsafe conditions you failed to disclose, or your negligence.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or personal injury caused by our negligence.

12. Keys, Master Key Systems, and Safes

  • Restricted keys. We will not duplicate keys marked “Do Not Duplicate,” restricted or patented keys, or keys belonging to a master key system without written authorization from the registered key holder or property owner.
  • Master key systems. Master key system designs, bitting charts, and key records are confidential and remain our property unless the contract states otherwise. We release them only to the authorized system owner or their written designee. Changes to an existing system designed by another company may require a full re-pinning, priced separately.
  • Key records. We may keep key codes and records needed to service your locks in the future. These records are stored securely and never shared without your authorization or a valid legal request.
  • Safes. Before opening a safe, we require proof of ownership as described in Section 3. Safe openings often require drilling and repair; you will be told the expected method and cost before we begin. We are not responsible for contents of a safe and recommend you inventory them when it is opened.
  • Duplicate key quality. Copies of worn or damaged keys may not work correctly. Where possible, we will cut keys to the manufacturer’s code instead.

13. Doors, Installation, and Building Codes

Door and frame measurements are taken by our technician or provided by you. If you supply the measurements, you are responsible for their accuracy, and any custom Products ordered based on them cannot be returned.

Installation prices assume a structurally sound opening. Hidden conditions found once work begins, such as rot, water damage, termite damage, out-of-square framing, or concealed wiring, may require additional work. We will stop, explain the issue, and get your approval for any change in price.

We install fire-rated doors, panic hardware, and exit devices according to manufacturer instructions and applicable codes for the work we perform. You are responsible for obtaining permits, landlord or HOA approvals, and inspections unless our Work Order states that we will handle them. We are not responsible for code violations in parts of the building we did not work on.

Painting, staining, trim finishing, drywall, and alarm system reconnection are not included unless listed on the Work Order. We will remove and dispose of old doors and hardware for an additional fee if you request it.

14. Electronic Access Control and Smart Locks

Smart locks, keypads, and access control systems depend on batteries, power, Wi-Fi, apps, and third-party software that we do not control. We are not responsible for outages, app or firmware changes, subscription fees, data breaches, or service discontinued by the manufacturer.

You are responsible for changing default codes, protecting passwords and admin credentials, replacing batteries, and keeping software up to date. We recommend keeping a working mechanical key override for every electronic lock.

Wiring work is limited to low-voltage connections for the access device. Any high-voltage electrical work will be performed by a licensed electrician and billed separately.

15. Commercial Accounts

Businesses, property managers, and landlords may apply for a commercial account with net payment terms, subject to credit approval. Invoices on approved accounts are due within [30] days of the invoice date.

Commercial customers must give us a current list of people authorized to request Services, approve work, and receive keys. We will act on requests from anyone on that list until you notify us in writing of a change. Purchase orders, if required, must be provided before work begins; terms printed on a purchase order do not change these Terms unless we agree in writing.

We may suspend Services on any account that is more than [60] days past due.

16. Privacy and Confidentiality

We collect only the personal information needed to provide Services, verify authorization, process payment, and meet legal record-keeping requirements. We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with payment processors, suppliers, and subcontractors only as needed to complete your job, or with law enforcement when required by law.

We treat information about your Property’s security, including lock types, key codes, alarm details, and access credentials, as confidential.

Our technicians may take photos of the work area before and after service to document conditions and completed work. We will not use photos showing your address, people, or identifying details in advertising without your written consent.

17. Disputes, Governing Law, and General Terms

  • Complaints. If you are unhappy with our work, contact us within 14 days of completion so we can inspect and try to fix the problem. We may not be responsible for repairs made by others before we had a chance to inspect.
  • Dispute resolution. You and King Locksmith agree to try in good faith to resolve any dispute informally for 30 days before starting legal action. Claims within the limit of small claims court may be brought there.
  • Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [insert state], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any legal action will be brought in the courts located in [insert county], [insert state].
  • Licensing. King Locksmith And Doors Inc. holds the following license(s): [insert license numbers, if required in your jurisdiction].
  • Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, supply shortages, labor disputes, or government actions.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with any Work Order or signed agreement, are the entire agreement between you and King Locksmith for the Services and replace any prior statements.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any term is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent.
