King Locksmith and Doors Inc runs a dedicated safe division for Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia. Our safe technicians are SAVTA members, which means they train specifically on safe and vault locks.
Our ALOA membership adds a code of ethics and background-checked staff. We service gun safes, jewelry safes, depository safes, wall and floor safes, and commercial cash safes. From a bedroom closet in Montgomery County to a federal contractor’s records room, the process is the same: careful, documented and unhurried.
Jewelers, pharmacies and property managers across Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia hand us their safe combinations because we document every visit, arrive marked and identified, and treat each job as confidential. Read what customers say after a combination change.

We had a great experience with King Locksmith and Doors. They were professional, prompt, and knowledgeable from start to finish. They took the time to explain everything, completed the job efficiently, and made sure everything was working perfectly before they left. It’s clear they care about their customers and take pride in their work. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, honest, and high-quality locksmith service. Thank you again!
Big shout out to technician Vernon. I ran into an unexpected problem in changing the code on an older lock that I have successfully done a couple dozen times in the past 20 years. I called King Locksmith and they sent me Vernon. Although not familiar with my old lock, he had the expertise to find the info he needed to resolve my issue. Not only was he very competent, he has very good customer service manners and accepted my attempts to be helpful.
A neighbor recommended this company for trickier doors in an older house. Mightily impressed by Vernon, master locksmith, a new hire at King Locksmith and Doors, who was knowledgeable and personable. He was able to reinstall a lever and lock that had been removed by a handyman (who then could not figure out how to put it back in), and bring it back to full function, thereby securing a whole area of the house. Vernon also assessed other doors and locks that have been giving us trouble, outlining the process for repairing and replacing each. We will be using King Locksmith and Doors again, and requesting Vernon when we do!
Their professionalism and customer service is superb. This team will follow up regarding status of technician name and arrival times, delivery of parts ordered, etc. From the moment you call you are treated with respect and courtesy. They did an outstanding job.
King Locksmith and Doors did an amazing job installing my new screen door! The whole team was professional, on time, and very easy to work with. They helped me choose the right screen door for my home, and the installation came out perfect. Everything looks clean, fits great, and works smoothly. You can tell they really care about the quality of their work. I’m very happy with the results and would definitely use King Locksmith and Doors again for future projects!
King Locksmith never disappoints!!! I hired them for the second time after an amazing experience a few years ago. Hard to believe that they could improve, but their service — and their team — has only gotten better! From first contact on the phone (and I apologize for not remembering the name of the lovely, helpful woman I spoke with who arranged the serrvice call super promptly) to the actual service less than 24 hours later, King Locksmith is stellar!!! Vernon, the locksmith who performed the work at my house, was phenomenal. Not only did he address the problem with my lock, he went above and beyond devising an elegant solution to what could could have been a slap-dab job had it not been performed by a professional like Vernon. He is a true asset to the King Locksmith team! You’re lucky to have him! Highly recommend King Locksmith!
We couldn’t turn our knob inside or outside to enter or exit. King Locksmith saved the day on a Saturday no less🤗 This is the third time I’ve used them. They are definitely my go to for locksmiths in a lockout or if you just need to change the locks.
I had such a wonderful experience with King Locksmith and Doors Inc. This is the first time I’ve used their services, and they truly exceeded my expectations. My most recent project was a major storefront door repair after a burglary. The glass was broken, the lock was badly damaged, and the door was almost falling off the hinges. From the moment I contacted King Locksmith and Doors, they professionally walked me through the entire process and provided upfront pricing with no surprises. The very same day, they sent two skilled and professional technicians who completed the work efficiently and within the timeframe they promised. The replacement glass arrived within a week, and they returned exactly as scheduled to install it. They handled everything with great care, responsibility, and professionalism. What really stood out to me was how smooth and stress-free they made the entire process. Their communication, professionalism, and attention to detail gave me confidence from start to finish. I will definitely continue using their services for any door or lock issues in the future. Thank you very much to the entire team at King Locksmith and Doors Inc. for making everything simple and stress-free!
This is the 2nd time in a few years I have used King Locksmith. Always a great job in my experience. This time they repaired a bi-fold door that wouldn’t stay in its track. Technician came the same day and was able to fix it. So nice not to have the door wobbling around anymore.
A combination change closes the door on anyone who once had access: a former employee, an ex-partner, a contractor who watched you dial. A worn wheel pack or failing keypad shows up as a code that works only sometimes. We reset or upgrade the lock and hand you a code nobody else has.
We reset Group 2 dial locks, the standard on most rated safes, by resetting the wheel pack, the numbered discs inside the lock.
Washington DC offices lose codes when staff leave. We reprogram SecuRam and LaGard keypads and clear old user codes on site.
Bought a home with a safe and no code? We open it, reset it and register the new combination to you alone.
Montgomery County pharmacies and retail shops call us after every staffing change. Reset before your next shift, written confirmation for your compliance file.
Fairfax County law firms are swapping worn dials for electronic locks with audit trail, so every opening is logged by user.
We set time delay, dual custody and duress codes on cash safes: a wait before opening, two people present, a silent alarm code.
Every hour that code stays live, your cash, records or firearms stay exposed. We reach the DMV in 20 to 50 minutes. Call (240) 345-1455 or schedule online.
Most gun safes run a SecuRam or S&G keypad. We reset the code and replace a tired battery contact while there.
Rotating staff use drop safes daily. We change the manager combination and add a penalty lockout that freezes the keypad after wrong tries.
A jewelry safe's TL-30 rating means 30 minutes of tool resistance. We reset the combination without tripping the relocker, the safe's tamper bolt.
UL 72 Class 350 record safes keep paper under 350 degrees in a fire. A new combination keeps people out. We cover both.
Smart safes need manager, courier and armored-car codes kept separate. We restructure user levels and enable audit trail reporting.
Hidden safes get forgotten combinations. We open floor and wall units cleanly, then fit a new mechanical dial or keypad.
Your safe’s ratings hold only while the lock stays in spec. UL 687 covers the body against burglars and UL 72 covers fire. Both assume the lock is right. UL 768 grades the lock itself into groups by how hard it is to pick or manipulate. An uncertified lock or a careless dial reset gives an insurer grounds to deny a claim. We match every part to the original listing.
A combination change is a trust exercise. You are letting a stranger touch the one lock protecting your most valuable things. Here is why homeowners and government offices across the region let it be us.
More than 900 homeowners and businesses across Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia have rated our safe work. Many came to us after another locksmith drilled a safe that only needed a reset. Those same units are still in service today.
Our dispatch runs technicians across Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia together, so the closest van gets your call. A gun shop in Prince George’s County or a property manager in Arlington County sees us within 20 to 50 minutes, not tomorrow.
Our Washington DC license means the District has checked us. Bonding covers you if anything goes missing. Insurance covers your safe and your floor. ALOA and SAVTA membership keep our methods current with each new lock release. Our local awards came from customers.
Every service van carries S&G, LaGard, SecuRam and Kaba Mas locks, keypads and spindles. Genuine parts fit the original bolt pattern, keep the UL listing intact and carry a manufacturer warranty. A generic lock may open your safe today and fail within a year.
King Locksmith and Doors Inc has reset combinations for a quarter century. Every reset is tested and signed off by a SAVTA technician. Call (240) 345-1455 or schedule online.
01
We photograph the lock, read the model and confirm whether a reset, a wheel change or a full replacement suits you.
02
Before any code changes, we check ID and proof of ownership. It protects you from the same request by someone else.
03
You choose the numbers. We set them with the door open, then cycle the boltwork, the locking bolts, a dozen times.
04
You receive a written service record and the old parts in hand. We keep nothing on file, by design.
Price depends on what sits behind the dial. Resetting a Group 2 mechanical lock takes less time than reprogramming a multi-user electronic lock with time delay.
A TL-30 safe needs extra care around the relocker. A basement floor safe takes longer to reach than a countertop unit. Share the make and model and our estimate arrives before our van does.
King Locksmith never disappoints!!! I hired them for the second time after an amazing experience a few years ago
Washington DC Homeowner
Stop wondering who else can open your safe. A SAVTA technician arrives, verifies you, resets the lock and leaves nothing behind but a working combination. Call (240) 345-1455 or schedule online.
The technician who resets your combination also opens, installs, repairs and relocates safes. One crew, one standard, one number across the DMV, so every lock we touch stays within its rating.
Our dispatch covers Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia from the road, not from a storefront you must drive to. A Howard County homeowner and a Prince William County federal contractor get the same technician skill, the same parts and the same day.
Straight answers from King Locksmiths on changing, resetting and upgrading your safe combination in the DMV.

Two things move the price: the lock type and how many codes you need. A single-user dial reset sits at the low end. A cash safe with manager, courier and time delay codes sits higher. Ask King Locksmiths for the number that fits your lock.
Most mechanical resets finish in one short visit. Electronic reprogramming with multiple users runs a little longer. If the lock has failed and needs a swap, add the time to fit the new body. Book a King Locksmiths slot and we will confirm the window.
Switch if you open the safe daily or need to track who opened it. A keypad is faster and an audit trail settles disputes. Stay with a dial if you want zero batteries and immunity to power surges. Talk it through with our safe technicians before deciding.
Call (240) 345-1455 and tell us the safe brand, the lock type and where it sits. We match a SAVTA technician to your area, whether Frederick County, Washington DC or the City of Alexandria, and give you an arrival window. Prefer typing? Schedule online with King Locksmiths.
